J.B. Holmes posts powerful playoff victory at FBR Open

February 4th, 2008

jb_front.jpg
With a performance that had anybody who saw the combination of long distance and accuracy searching for new superlatives, J.B. Holmes stared down the World No. 2 to capture his second FBR Open in three years. The 25-year old finished at 14-under 270, which included a birdie on the 72nd hole to force the playoff. Minutes later, Holmes birdied the 18th hole once again, this time following a 359-yard tee shot that split the fairway on the first extra hole.

Among the equipment trusted by Holmes for his success is the King Cobra 454 Comp (7.5) driver, Speed Pro 3- (13.0) and 5- (18.0) fairway metals and Pro CB (3-P) irons. While Holmes’ distance off the tee was 302.5 yards on the measured driving holes, his average drive on all holes was 316.6 yards - tops among all players. He also hit over 70 percent of the greens in regulation en route to his second career win.

With a PGA TOUR-leading measured clubhead speed average approaching 125 (124.92) mph, Holmes is second in Driving Distance (312.4 yards) and third in Scoring Average (69.39). He also moved to the top of the Money List following the win with more than $1.176 million in winnings.

With three consecutive made cuts and two Top 20 finishes already this season, the momentum continues for Holmes and Cobra in 2008. A powerful start for a powerful player. And business as usual for a powerful brand.

Camilo #1 in Driving Distance after 1st Round at the FBR Open

February 1st, 2008

camilo.jpg

Camilo switched to the L4V driver last week at the Buick Invitational. This week at the FBR Open he leads in driving distance after round one. His average drives for round one were an amazing 317.5 yards. He played an 8 degree L4V at the Buick but switched to a 9 degree for the FBR. He felt that he needed a touch more spin in the desert air. All other specs were the same as last week.

2008 Sony Open

January 10th, 2008

The 2008 PGA Tour season has begun and the Cobra Tour Staff is ready to strike. Here are a few pictures from this weeks Sony Open played at Wailae Country Club located on the beautiful island of Oahu. All things were great this week with beautiful weather, slight trade winds and a great old golf course. JB Holmes and Kevin Na have the new Cobra Pro CB irons in the bag and I overheard another non Cobra Staffer hit them and said the sole grind is one of the best he’s seen. That’s the standard sales sole grind also so put your order in now. They are a great set. Camilo is playing with them as well. Hawaii, it’s a perfect way to begin the 2008 season.

Cobra Tour Director Chris Tuten

December 19th, 2007

By: Terra Cole

When Cobra Tour Director Chris Tuten joined Cobra Golf in 2005, his mission was to direct the brand’s resurgence on the PGA Tour. And he believed the best way to achieve this was to develop clubs based on Tour player feedback.

pic1.jpg“We have the best products of any company on the PGA Tour,” Tuten said. “That’s because we work hand-in-hand with our players. We offer a very high level of personal service.”

Tuten’s personal approach includes extensive behind-the-scenes work with Cobra’s Research and Development department. The collaboration between Tour and R&D has produced some of the Tour’s best equipment, including the Speed Pro drivers and new Pro MB and Pro CB irons that will launch early 2008.

“I have been extremely happy with Chris’ service since day one,” said Cobra PGA Tour Pro Ian Poulter. “It’s nice to get the one-to-one time [at the start of the PGA Tour season] to sort out my Cobra equipment. That kind of service makes a big difference in my game.”

offseason_ian_front.jpg

I just got back from Orlando and had a great time working with our staff. I am very exited about our new product line. I worked with Ian on a set of new Pro MB’s, Speed Pro Fairway Metals, and Baffler Pro. Here are a few pics from Lake Nona.

How would you like to be a member of the Cobra Tour Staff? You get to hit Pro V1x’s with the newest Cobra equipment in 82 degree weather. Sorry to all those freezing up North.

J.B. and I worked on his new set of Pro CB’s and a few new Baffler Pro’s yesterday at Isleworth. He loves the feel of the new Pro CB irons and their turf interaction. They have Dynamic Gold S400 shafts in them. Look for them in shops in Spring 2008.
